How to write your address in English

Good to know

- Write the building number before the road name in English (152 Teheran-ro) and after it in Korean (테헤란로 152).
How Korean addresses work
Korea uses road-name addresses (도로명주소): a city or province, a district, a road name and a building number, for example 서울 강남구 테헤란로 152. In English the order flips to building number first: 152 Teheran-ro, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
Older lot-number addresses (지번주소) name the neighborhood (동) and a land lot number instead of the road. You still see them on some contracts and registry papers, so the tool shows both.
The postcode (우편번호) has 5 digits. You need it for deliveries, bank forms and shipping from abroad.

I only have my address in English. Can I get the Korean version?
Yes. Choose "I have the English address" and paste it. We turn the road name into Korean letters and search for it. Romanized names can match more than one Korean spelling, so if the list is empty, try one of the other spellings we suggest.
Which address should I use on my visa or ARC paperwork?
Use the road-name address. Copy the Korean version for Korean forms and the English version for English forms.
What do 동 and 호 mean in an apartment address?
동 is the building number in an apartment complex and 호 is the unit number. 101동 1203호 means building 101, unit 1203. In English you can write it 101-dong 1203-ho or, shorter, 101-1203.
