What carries over

  • The document is rewritten in the HWPX format with its text, styles, tables and images.
  • HWPX stores the document as XML files inside a ZIP archive, so other programs can read it more easily.

What is an HWP file?

HWP is the file format of Hangul (한글), the word processor made by Hancom. Korean government offices use it widely, so you will see it in forms, notices and application packs.

HWPX is the newer version of the format. It keeps the document as XML files inside a ZIP archive, and it is a Korean national standard (KS X 6101).

This tool reads both formats in your browser, so you do not need to install Hangul.
