Jinhae Cherry Blossom Festival

Officially the Jinhae Gunhangje, the festival commemorates Admiral Yi Sun-sin, but visitors come for one thing: the cherry blossoms. The Yeojwacheon Romance Bridge and the disused Gyeonghwa Station, where blossoms arch over old rail tracks, are two of the most photographed spots in Korea each spring. Expect massive crowds; arrive on a weekday if possible.

From Seoul: 3.5 hours by KTX to Changwon Central + 30-minute bus or taxi to Jinhae. From Busan: ~1 hour by metro + bus. Special festival shuttle buses run from Changwon, Busan, and major Seoul hotels during peak weekends.

Plan accommodation 3+ months ahead, Jinhae sells out and Busan/Changwon hotels triple in price. Peak bloom is unpredictable: typically late March to early April, but can shift by a week. The official festival dates are fixed; the actual peak bloom may not align. Check bloom forecasts in mid-March.
