About this festival
Icheon has been producing high-quality ceramics since the Goryeo Dynasty, and the city's celadon and white porcelain traditions are recognised as among the finest in East Asian craft history. The festival, in its 40th anniversary edition in 2026, spreads across Icheon Ceramics Village at Seolbong Park with gallery-quality exhibitions, direct studio sales, and hands-on wheel-throwing sessions. International ceramic artists have participated alongside Korean masters in recent editions, and the April-May timing coincides with some of the best spring weather in Gyeonggi Province.
Getting there
Take the Gyeonggang Line from Seoul Wangsimni Station to Icheon Station (about 1 hour), then a local bus or taxi to Seolbong Park Ceramics Village (about 20 minutes). Direct intercity buses from Seoul Express Bus Terminal to Icheon Bus Terminal take about 1 hour.
Tips
Studio sales at the festival are a good way to buy authenticated Icheon ware directly from the potter; prices vary widely based on the artist. Hands-on wheel sessions typically cost 10,000 to 15,000 won per person and fill up on weekends. Free admission throughout the festival. The 40th anniversary edition in 2026 is expected to have expanded programming.
