Who this visa is for

Spouses and unmarried minor children (under 19) of foreign nationals legally resident in Korea on E-1 through E-7 or F-2/F-4/F-5/F-6 visas.

F-3 visa key facts

  • Since April 2025, change-of-status to F-3 from inside Korea is no longer permitted. Applications must be filed through a Korean embassy abroad
  • F-3 holders cannot work without separate authorization (typically obtainable via S-3 work permit at immigration)
  • Sponsor's annual income threshold is approximately 24-30M KRW for the first dependent, with additional thresholds per additional dependent
  • F-3 stay matches the sponsor's visa duration, up to 3 years renewable
  • F-3 holders' children can attend Korean schools and use NHIS as dependents at no additional premium
