Job Description: Language Lead - Malagasy (Madagascar)
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Language Lead - Malagasy (Madagascar) to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong linguistic background, expertise in the Malagasy language, and the ability to lead projects with a focus on quality and efficiency. The Language Lead will oversee linguistic tasks, manage quality assurance, and provide mentorship to linguists while ensuring the delivery of high-quality language services.
Key Responsibilities:
Linguistic Expertise:
Provide expert-level translation, localization, and linguistic support for Malagasy language projects.
Ensure linguistic accuracy, cultural appropriateness, and contextual relevance in all deliverables.
Quality Assurance:
Review and edit translations to ensure they meet client requirements and quality standards.
Implement quality control processes and resolve linguistic issues, including terminology consistency and style adherence.
Project Leadership:
Lead Malagasy language projects from initiation to completion, ensuring deadlines and quality benchmarks are met.
Collaborate with project managers, clients, and other linguists to meet project goals.
Team Management & Mentorship:
Provide guidance and support to linguists and junior team members.
Facilitate training and development opportunities for the team to enhance skills and expertise.
Terminology and Style Guide Development:
Develop and maintain Malagasy language glossaries, style guides, and linguistic resources.
Ensure adherence to client-specific requirements and language standards.
Client Communication:
Serve as a point of contact for linguistic queries and feedback from clients.
Manage and address client concerns related to Malagasy language services.
Requirements:
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, Translation Studies, Language Arts, or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of professional experience in translation, localization, or linguistic services.
At least 2 years of experience as a Language Lead or in a Senior Linguist position.
Language Skills: Native or near-native proficiency in Malagasy, with excellent command of English (additional language proficiency is a plus).
Technical Skills:
Familiarity with translation and localization tools (e.g., CAT tools, TMS systems).
Strong knowledge of linguistic quality assurance processes.
Soft Skills:
Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in the localization/translation industry for global clients.
Knowledge of Madagascar’s cultural and regional linguistic nuances.
Certification in translation or localization tools is an advantage.
