1\. Role Overview

Mercor is partnering with a leading AI research organization to engage an experienced public-markets investment professional.

You will lead the diagnosis of a public-markets portfolio, assess its positioning against current market conditions and relevant benchmarks, and develop practical recommendations covering asset allocation, fund and ETF selection, portfolio risk, rebalancing, and implementation.

2\. Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate holdings across public equities, fixed income securities, ETFs, funds, and other liquid investments.
  • Diagnose portfolio construction issues, concentration risks, asset-allocation gaps, and performance drivers.
  • Assess holdings against appropriate benchmarks and investment objectives.
  • Produce a structured market update covering relevant macroeconomic, sector, and asset-class developments.
  • Evaluate ETF and fund selection, including exposures, costs, liquidity, diversification, and suitability.
  • Develop evidence-based rebalancing recommendations.
  • Prepare clear implementation plans and proposed trade instructions.
  • Analyze performance, volatility, risk exposures, and benchmark-relative results.
  • Clearly document the reasoning supporting each recommendation.
  • Incorporate structured feedback from senior reviewers and iterate quickly on the work.

3\. Ideal Qualifications

  • Approximately 8-10 years of professional public-markets investment experience.
  • Hands-on experience in portfolio management, asset allocation, ETF or fund selection, and portfolio-risk analysis.
  • Background at an institutional asset manager, Multi-Family Office, investment office, Hedge Fund, wealth manager, or comparable investment platform.
  • Experience as a Junior Portfolio Manager, Portfolio Manager, Investment Principal, Senior Investment Analyst, or similar professional is particularly relevant.
  • Strong understanding of public equities, fixed income, ETFs, funds, benchmarks, and portfolio implementation.
  • Experience producing market updates, portfolio diagnoses, rebalancing recommendations, and implementation plans.
  • Strong quantitative skills and proficiency with portfolio-performance and risk analysis.
  • CFA qualification is preferred but not required.
  • Exceptionally strong written communication and the ability to explain portfolio decisions with precision.
  • Detail-oriented, consistent, and comfortable having investment judgments reviewed and calibrated.
  • Prior experience with AI evaluation or structured investment-assessment projects is a plus.

4\. Application Process

  • Submit your resume or relevant professional background to get started.
  • Qualified applicants may be asked to complete a brief investment assessment or provide additional information about their experience.
